Next Stage is Sydney Theatre Company’s Wharf 2 Season; theatre pieces curated by us and linked together by a few loose requirements.
They shouldn’t be the sort of shows you see on our Main Stage. They should be by emerging artists. They should be formally intentive. And they should feel new. They should be cheap, cheerful and rough.
Next Stage 2011
This year’s season of four productions begins with German play Before /After directed by Cristabel Sved, in its first English-language production. An exploration of the nature of competition and the business of being the best comes from performance collective, post, in Who’s The Best?. Africa, features broken toys, puppets and inspired performances from My Darling Patricia, while Money Shots includes six fifteen-minute plays on the theme of money from a diverse range of writers and devisers.

Also as part of Next Stage, the regular Rough Drafts (week-long creative developments followed by free showings) return, giving you the opportunity to work in development in its earliest stages. Learn more about the next Rough Draft here.
