Tragedy Workshop
Directed by Naomi Edwards
STC Ed’s Tragedy workshop will illuminate perhaps the greatest tragedies – Death of a Salesman and Oedipus Tyrannus. Beginning with the social and cultural contexts of both plays, the workshop will examine and compare the dramatic elements of the classical Oedipus Tyrannus, to the modern Death of a Salesman.
Naomi Edwards will guide four performers through key scenes from Oedipus Tyrannus and Death of a
Salesman offering students an opportunity to see professional actors tackle scenes from both tragedies.
Ideas around contemporary staging will be explored by the cast of professional actors. Students will be encouraged to consider what impact the plays now have on a modern audience, and will be encouraged to ask questions at the end of the presentation.
