STC Ed presents Tamarama Rock Surfers Theatre Company's
Fools Island
by Darren Gilshenan and Chris Harris
Twins. One clown, one villain. Both shipwrecked from an asteroid, on a tiny desert island. One bent on creation, the other destruction. A tale of discovery, love, lust, cuckoldry and revenge.
Written by renowned actor Darren Gilshenan and Chris Harris (UK), with additional dramaturgy by John Bell, Toby Schmitz and Jo Turner,
Fools Island combines Shakespeare’s words with hilarious physical clowning, created through improvisation and devising.
The show is performed by the ultimate Shakespeare clown, Darren Gilshenan. He plays both twin brothers (one good, one not so good), as well as a dog, a cat, a mother, a father, a sister, a nurse, a silent movie hero and heroine, an evil maniac, a goat, a bottle, a rock – to name a few!
Every word is Shakespeare’s and every action beautifully combines Darren’s unique skills with director Jo Turner’s extensive physical theatre experience.
Fools Island offers a rare opportunity for students and teachers, and contains all of the elements particular to IPs for the HSC.
