Continuing the tremendous success of STC’s innovative outreach project People of the Soil, the Company is once again setting out into regional NSW, in search of vibrant, new and timely stories. In 2012 STC will be beginning this adventure in the New England region.

The 12-month engagement will begin with STC artists co-developing with local teachers and community leaders a series of immersive dramabased experiences across several high schools and community groups. At the core of this program are multiple artist residencies delivering a range of workshops during and after school and mentoring opportunities for young people across the theatre-making process.

STC’s regional outreach program will again culminate with STC commissioning and producing a new production created and performed by STC artists, however this time we will also be auditioning young people to perform in the fi nal performance ensemble.

Over the past three years STC’s regional outreach program has demonstrated it offers important academic and social learning opportunities for regional students, enhances teachers work in schools, celebrates the diversity of communities and facilitates new connections for young people. It is with great enthusiasm that we embark on the latest incarnation of this joyful and rewarding program!
