Since 1986, the Pier Group has banded together to raise funds that meet the immediate needs of the Sydney Theatre Company. Over the past 20 years they have done this through a variety of lively, entertaining and sometimes outrageous fundraising events.

In 2008 the Pier Group treated guests to lunch at The Wharf Restaurant with Simon Phillips, John Gaden and John Doyle, and blew the roof off the Sydney Theatre with the spectacular All Star Cabaret. The Pier Group are delighted to announce that all funds raised will go towards the much needed installation of a lift at the Wharf.

The Wharf lift project is vital to increasing accessibility to Pier 4, and the project is well underway. The NSW Government Architects office released plans at the end of the year for comments, and the project will go to tender in April with construction from September 2009.

The Sydney Theatre Company will continue fundraising for this project throughout 2009.
