Date posted: 23 Feb 2017Author: STC Production: Chimerica

Lucy Kirkwood's political thriller Chimerica, directed by our Artistic Director Kip Williams, is currently in rehearsals at The Wharf. With an ensemble of 32 performers, including 20 young artists from the National Institute of Dramatic Art, Chimerica is a gripping, globe-trotting epic.

Archibald Prize-winning artist Nicholas Harding dropped into rehearsals last week. Take a peek into his sketchbook alongside rehearsal images by Hon Boey.

THE MEANING OF CHIMERICA

[chai-meh-ricka]

The word Chimerica is a combination of the words ‘China’ and ‘America’ coined by academic historian Niall Ferguson and economist Moritz Schularick to signal the intertwined economies of those two countries.
