News: 2018 Season sneak peek

Date posted: 5 Sep 2017Author: STC

In anticipation of our 2018 Season launch, we're thrilled to announce three co-productions from next year as an early sneak peek. Our Artistic Director Kip Williams will be revealing the full 2018 line up on Thursday 21 September.

We’re delighted to team up with Melbourne Theatre Company to bring you the Australian premiere of The Children by Lucy Kirkwood. This is a powerful, moving story that rumbles with big questions about how we live. Directed by former STC Resident Director Sarah Goodes and starring the superb Pamela Rabe, Sarah Peirse and William Zappa, this acclaimed new drama will be hitting the Sydney Opera House in March 2018.

We're also excited to be presenting two bold and fearless plays with Malthouse Theatre. On at The Wharf in March, Michele Lee’s play, Going Down, is a brutally funny and frank tale of a young woman who has to hit rock bottom in order to find a way back up, with some outrageous antics along the way. Then, in May, comes Nakkiah Lui’s Blackie Blackie Brown: The Traditional Owner of Death, a no-holds-barred gore-fest about an archaeologist turned Aboriginal female superhero.
