Online Voice Workshops with Leith McPherson
9 Sep 2021
Join STC’s Voice and Text Coach Leith McPherson as she leads us through exercises and techniques to keep voices strong and performance ready, in a series of online workshops. Breath work, voice and body flexibility are important skills for any performers and these practical sessions give opportunities to brush up on these techniques after such a long time away from the theatre.
Perfect for all actors, singers and performers who have been out of practice in lockdown but all are welcome, including those just wanting to learn more about vocal training, and an actor’s process!
Starting Thursday 9 September, workshops will take place each Thursday at 1.30pm, run for approximately 25 minutes and all you will require is an internet connection and some space around to get your body and voice working.
Leith has recently joined STC following a glittering voice and text career on both stage and screen. In addition to countless productions for Melbourne Theatre Company, her theatre career highlights include Australia's productions of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Matilda the Musical, and Once. Leith has also worked extensively on screen, including serving as Dialect Coach on Peter Jackson's The Hobbit. She is a leader in voice education and was Head of Voice and Movement and Deputy Head of Theatre at the Victorian College of the Arts from 2017-2019.
You can learn more about Leith in our welcome interview with her HERE.
Classes are on a drop in basis, and whilst we encourage people to attend all sessions, each workshop is not a pre-requisite to any other.
Sessions will run on Thursdays at 1.30pm. Workshops will be hosted as a zoom webinar with a link sent prior to each workshop.
