Introducing Australia’s new superhero!

Blackie Blackie Brown is a wild, twisted, hilarious origin story by provocative social commentator Nakkiah Lui. Add a mystical quest, blood-curdling vengeance and a dose of potent political venom, and a new superhero is born.

Somewhere in the Australian bush, mild-mannered archaeologist Dr Jacqueline Black uncovers a mass grave. She picks up a skull and is over-powered by the spirit of her great-great-grandmother… BAM! Blackie Blackie Brown has arrived and she is a cold-blooded vigilante.

Her mission: kill all the descendants of the men who massacred her ancestors. White people, watch out. This isn’t about forgiveness. And it’s not about reconciliation.

High-octane stage action is seamlessly mixed with heart-pumping visuals based on illustrations by Emily Johnson and animations by VFX gurus Oh Yeah Wow. Director Declan Greene (Calpurnia Descending) and designer Elizabeth Gadsby (Cloud Nine) take us on an outrageous, somewhat blood-soaked, ride.

With break-out newcomer Megan Wilding in the title role, and the ever-hilarious Ash Flanders playing every single white person she needs to kill, you’ll be laughing out loud one second, squirming in your seat the next.

"Your white meat is DONE, motherf***er."

★★★★ “One of the funniest comedies written for the Australian stage in years.” Time Out

★★★★ "Compelling drama and crime-thriller suspense … sensational animations." The Sydney Morning Herald

★★★★½ “Nakkiah Lui's ferocious new comedy will have you on the edge of your seat from start to finish.” Limelight

★★★★½ “A bloody romp that gleefully steals from the cartoon and the camp as well as the classical.” Daily Review

“One of the wonders of this work … is that it pivots improbably smoothly from outrageous hilarity to heartrending pain and injustice in a kind of one-two move that hits you in the gut.” Limelight

“Jacqueline is played with a brilliant mixture of humour and feistiness by Megan Wilding.” The Australian

“The laughter that Blackie Blackie Brown delivers, is relentless and uproarious” Suzy Goes See

“Megan Wilding is a mesmerising leading lady, effortlessly alternating between the earnest vulnerability of Dr Brown and her alter ego Blackie Blackie Brown’s extravagant vivacity … In accompaniment is the high camp stylings of Ash Flanders, equally endearing in a range of screwball guises, each one hilarious and wonderfully inventive.” Suzy Goes See
