Sydney Theatre Company is committed to providing equal access for all to ensure that everyone can fully participate and enjoy our productions.

If you have access or seating requirements, please call our Box Office on (02) 9250 1777 to book your tickets or ask any questions you may have. We will select seats to suit your needs, as these seats are unable to be booked on our website. Please specify your requirements at the time of booking to make best use of our services.

Accessible Performances

Sydney Theatre Company presents audio-described performances, AUSLAN interpreted performances and captioned performances of selected productions throughout the year. 

These performances can be booked online, or call our Box Office for further assistance.

Sydney Theatre Company presents audio-described performances of selected productions throughout the year for the vision impaired. Some of these performances include a workshop and tour of the set prior to the performance, to enable the vision impaired patrons to familiarise themselves with the physical aspects of the production - including the shape of the cast!

Productions throughout the year are professionally signed (AUSLAN Interpreted) on stage for the hearing impaired.

A narrow cast FM system is available in Wharf 1 Theatre, Wharf 2 Theatre, the Nielson Family Gallery and Roslyn Packer Theatre. To use the loop system, please request a headset from our staff. Headsets contain FM receivers and can be used by patrons with or without hearing aids.

Getting to our Venues

There is a drop off and pick up point directly outside the The Wharf on Hickson Road. Please note that it is not permitted to park cars in these spaces as they are strictly for drop offs and pick-ups only. Patrons can be met here by a staff member if they require a courtesy wheelchair, or staff assistance. For staff assistance, please request this service at the time of booking. 

Staff can assist patrons 45 mins prior to the show (Box Office staff will confirm this with you if/when you make your booking). 

There is a drop off and pick up point outside Roslyn Packer Theatre on Hickson Road in the taxi zone just past the entrance to the theatre. Please note that it is not permitted to park cars in these spaces as they are strictly for drop offs and pick-ups only. Patrons can be met here by a staff member if they require a courtesy wheelchair, or staff assistance. For staff assistance, please request this service at the time of booking.

There are two car parks in the near vicinity of The Wharf and Roslyn Packer Theatre. The closest car park is Bond Store One, located at 26 Hickson Road, Walsh Bay. 

Bond Store One: Vehicle access is via 26 Hickson Road. There are 2 accessible bays for RTA Mobility Parking Permit Holders on the first level just past entry. There are lifts nearby with level access to Hickson Road. 

Barangaroo Point Car Park: Vehicle access is via Hickson Road. There are 4 accessible bays for RTA Mobility Parking Permit Holders; 3 on blue level and 1 on yellow level. The accessible car spots are near the lifts which have level access to the street. 

Throughout our venues there are signs to help you. The writing and symbols are mostly in black on a white background.

You may wish to have one of our staff assist you, especially if you or a patron in your group has mobility impairments. Should you require mobility assistance of any kind, please advise Box Office when booking your tickets. 

We also have a number of venue wheelchairs to assist patrons from the kerb for patrons that have difficulty walking up stairs or long distances. If you require to be met kerbside with a wheelchair before the show, please call the Box Office on (02) 9250 1777 or see one of our helpful front of house staff on the day of the show.

Level Access Points

Wharf 1 Theatre is on Level 2 of The Wharf. Most patrons will enter via Doors 1 and 2 which can be reached most directly via the lift at the end of The Wharf. This provides level access from the exterior apron of The Wharf at Ground Level, right up to the Theatre on Level 2. 

We also have a level access point to Wharf 1 Theatre through Door 3 for people seated in A row, which allows patrons to go directly into the theatre.

Level access to Level 1 is via any of the three lifts along the exterior of The Wharf. Each of these lifts can be accessed via ground floor, however the lift at the end of The Wharf provides the most direct access. 

Wharf 2 Theatre is on Level 1 of The Wharf. Level access is available via any of the three lifts along the apron of the Wharf, with the most direct access via the Mid-Wharf lift. 

Level access to the main foyer is via the Roslyn Packer Theatre's main entrance located on 22 Hickson Road. To reach the main auditorium we also have a lift in the main foyer which operates between Ground level, Stalls level and the Dress Circle level. We also have a level access point to the main auditorium through Door 5 which allows patrons to walk directly into the theatre (please note that using Door 5 is on request only and these requests should be made at the cloakroom). 

If you require level access seats in the main auditorium ask for level access seating in Row F in the stalls.

Entry to Folio is through the ground floor foyer at Roslyn Packer Theatre, or via the bar’s Hickson Road entrance. All access is step-free, and wheelchair access is available through the ground floor foyer. 

The Wharf Restaurant and Bar is on Level 1 of The Wharf. There are three lifts along The Wharf; one on Hickson Road, another mid-Wharf and another at the end of The Wharf. Each of these lifts provide level access to The Wharf Restaurant and Bar.

The Neilson Family Gallery is on Level 2 at the end of The Wharf. Lift access is via the lift near The Wharf Restaurant and Bar.

The Richard Wherrett Studio is located on the ground floor of the Roslyn Packer Theatre. All access to the studio is step free.

The Ruth Cracknell Room is located on Level 1 of the Roslyn Packer Theatre and can be accessed using the lift in the corner of the main foyer.

Accessible Facilities

There are accessible toilets on both the Ground Floor and the Dress Circle levels of the Foyer (Level 2). 

There are accessible toilets both at Mid-Wharf and at the end of the Wharf. There are also two ambulant toilets within the female toilet blocks at the end of the Wharf.

There is a baby change table located in the Accessible toilet at Mid-Wharf at The Wharf.
