Sarah Snook to star in The Picture of Dorian Gray - Hero

Just announced: Sydney Theatre Company’s The Picture of Dorian Gray is hitting London’s West End in January 2024 featuring the phenomenal Australian actor, Sarah Snook.

We’re beyond excited that our production of Dorian Gray will have its UK premiere in January 2024. Adapted and directed by our Artistic Director Kip Williams, this groundbreaking reworking of Oscar Wilde’s novel was created by an all-Australian creative team, including Designer Marg Horwell, Lighting Designer Nick Schlieper, Composer & Sound Designer Clemence Williams, Video Designer David Bergman, Dramaturg & Creative Associate Eryn Jean Norvill, Production Dramaturg Paige Rattray and Assistant Director Ian Michael.

The Picture of Dorian Gray first opened in Sydney in 2020 to five-star reviews. The production has since performed two sold-out encore seasons in Sydney and toured to the prestigious Adelaide Festival, Arts Centre Melbourne as part of RISING Festival (presented by Michael Cassel Group), and Auckland Arts Festival. The show has received multiple awards at the 2022 Sydney Theatre Awards and 2023 Green Room Awards, including Best Production and Best Director for Williams.

The London season will play at Theatre Royal Haymarket from 23rd January 2024, presented by Michael Cassel Group and Kindred Partners.

With a stage career that includes her critically-acclaimed 2018 performance in STC’s Saint Joan and a lauded run opposite Ralph Fiennes in Old Vic Theatre’s 2016 production of The Master Builder, Sarah Snook received worldwide recognition for her Golden Globe-winning role as Shiv Roy in HBO’s Succession. We can’t wait to see her take on 26 characters as the solo performer in this ambitious and revolutionary celebration of Australian theatre on the international stage.

From all of us at Sydney Theatre Company, a huge congratulations to all the artists, crew members, production workshops, producing teams and everyone who worked to bring this extraordinary piece of theatre to life. We couldn’t be prouder to see Dorian take on the West End!
