LEVEL ACCESS POINTS

Please note that the lift closest to Hickson Road is currently being replaced and will be operational as soon as possible. All other lifts along the Wharf are functioning. Our apologies for any inconvenience this may cause you.

Wharf 1 Theatre

Wharf 1 Theatre is on Level 2 of The Wharf. The majority of patrons will enter via Doors 1 and 2 which can be reached most directly via the lift at the end of The Wharf. This provides level access from the exterior apron of The Wharf at Ground Level, right up to the Theatre on Level 2.

We also have a level access point to Wharf 1 Theatre through Door 3 for people seated in A row, which allows patrons to go directly into the theatre. Access to Door 3 is only on request and these requests should be made at the Box Office at the time of booking.

Level access to Level 1 is via any of the three lifts along the exterior of The Wharf. Each of these lifts can be accessed via ground floor, however the lift at the end of The Wharf provides the most direct access.

Wharf 2 Theatre

Wharf 2 Theatre is on Level 1 of The Wharf. Level access is available via any of the three lifts along the apron of the Wharf, with the most direct access via the Mid-Wharf lift.

The Theatre Bar at the End of The Wharf

The Theatre Bar at the End of the Wharf is on Level 1 of The Wharf. There are three lifts along The Wharf; one on Hickson Road, another mid-Wharf and another at the end of The Wharf. Each of these lifts provide level access to The Theatre Bar at the End of the Wharf.

The Neilson Family Gallery

The Neilson Family Gallery is on Level 2 of The Wharf, at End-Wharf. Lift access is via the lift near The Theatre Bar at the End of the Wharf.

SIGNAGE

Throughout The Wharf, there are signs to help you. The writing and symbols are mostly in black on a white background.

STAFF ASSISTED ACCESS

You may wish to have one of our staff assist you, especially if you or a patron in your group has mobility impairments. Should you require mobility assistance of any kind, please advise Box Office when booking your tickets. One of our staff will be organised to assist you.

A number of spaces are available for wheelchairs in each theatre. If you have difficulty walking up stairs or long distances, please advise staff at Box Office and they will arrange for assistance and the use of one of our wheelchairs. Our staff are easily identifiable in STC uniforms. Due to COVID-19 restrictions staff are currently unable to assist with pushing wheelchairs. We request that you attend with a companion who is able to assist you. If you have any questions please call Box Office.

Please inform Box Office at least 24 hours in advance to ensure we are able to assist your needs. Call us on (02) 9250 1777 or email [email protected] to book this service.

ASSISTED LISTENING DEVICES

A narrow cast FM system is available in both Wharf 1 Theatre and Wharf 2 Theatre as well as the Nielson Family Gallery. To use the loop system, please request a headset from our staff. Headsets contain FM receivers and can be used by patrons with or without hearing aids.

ACCESSIBLE FACILITIES

There are accessible toilets both at Mid-Wharf and at the End of the Wharf. There are also two ambulant toilets within the female toilet blocks at End-Wharf.

PARENT ROOM

There is a baby change table located in the Accessible toilet at Mid-Wharf.

AUDIO-DESCRIBED PERFORMANCES

STC presents audio-described performances of selected productions throughout the year for the vision impaired. Some of these performances include a workshop and tour of the set prior to the performance, to enable the vision impaired patrons to familiarise themselves with the physical aspects of the production - including the shape of the cast!

In addition, up to three productions per year are professionally signed (AUSLAN Interpreted) on stage for the hearing impaired. These services are offered with specially reduced ticket prices to encourage greater access.

For information on booking access services, call Box Office on (02) 9250 1777.
