Here are the ways to book:
Book online
You can book for large groups of up to 10 people online. This is the quickest and easiest way to access the best available seats, and confirm them on the spot.Booking form
For groups over 10 people, download and fill out the special Groups Booking Form and email it to us at seasontickets@sydneytheatre.com.au - What is the duration of the plays?
The duration of each play is subject to change. We aim to be as precise as possible on the duration of a play in all our materials however due to the nature of the artistic process and live theatre, the duration is often updated once each play goes into rehearsal, and can change during a play's run, particularly with new works and adaptations.
The most up-to-date information is provided in our pre-show emails, on our website and in our theatre foyers. We encourage you to check our website or call Box Office on (02) 9250 1777 before your performance. Opt-in to receive our pre-show emails.
- What is a preview, and how do I know which performances are previews?
Previews are a set of performances before the official opening. The purpose of previews is to allow the director, cast and crew to run the show in front of an audience to identify problems and opportunities for improvement and to make adjustments to the production so it is the best it can be. Often there will be changes made during previews. Sometimes there may be a stop in the show, but this happens quite rarely. For these reasons, tickets to previews are offered at a reduced price. All ‘Act 1’ ticket package preview prices are $44.
Preview performance dates are listed on the individual production pages on the website and the calendar.
- Is there violence/smoking/nudity/coarse language/heavy subject matter in the plays?
Content warnings on each play are subject to change. We aim to be as clear in our materials as possible as we do not wish to offend personal sensibilities and values. In our annual Season brochure and on this website we include language, violence, nudity, and smoking warnings and an indication of the themes and subject matter of each play. Sometimes this includes warnings about content that could potentially be triggering. Due to the nature of the artistic process and live theatre, content warnings are often updated once each play goes into rehearsal, and can change during a play's run, particularly with new works and adaptations. We post warnings outside the entrance to the auditorium about strobe lighting, smoke machines, very loud noise, gunfire and smoking.
The most up-to-date information is provided in our pre-show emails, on our website and in our theatre foyers. We encourage you to check our website or call Box Office on (02) 9250 1777 before your performance. Opt-in to receive our pre-show emails.
- Who is the primary subscriber and who is a co-subscriber?
The primary subscriber is the person who makes the original payment. For example if Mary and John subscribe together and Mary’s credit card is provided for payment, we are obliged to complete the order with Mary as Primary and John as co-subscriber. Both parties receive the same entitlements and benefits, but only Mary’s account will hold the ability to exchange online.
- How do I exchange my tickets?
If you are the primary subscriber you can exchange online via your My STC account, by email to boxoffice@sydneytheatre.com.au or by calling Box Office (02) 9250 1777. Please include Ticket Numbers in all requests.
If you are a co-subscriber you may still exchange tickets independently providing you have the ticket(s) in your possession. You can do this either in person or by calling STC Box Office from 7 Dec 2020, (02) 9250 1777.‘Act 1’ ticket package holders can exchange their 1 tickets from Mon 7 Dec.
- Why do I have to tell STC who I'm bringing? What if I want to bring different people each time?
If we know who is seeing each play we can ensure everyone receives their correct entitlements and benefits, and are notified of any performance updates.
If your guest is seeing 2 or more plays, they become your co-subscriber and will also be an ‘Act 1’ ticket package holder.
If you have multiple guests attending less than 2 plays with you, they are an additional ticket holder and are not considered subscribers.
- What if a group want to pay separately but sit together?
If you wish to do this you will need to complete a booking form and email them together to seasontickets@sydneytheatre.com.au. Please include clear notes on your seating preferences and staff will do their utmost to meet these requests. If we receive your forms separately we cannot guarantee that we will be able to sit you together.
- What is a Benefits Card?
‘Act 1’ ticket package holders receive a Digital Benefits Card which entitles you to offers and discounts from a select group of businesses.
Digital Benefits Cards will be emailed directly to all Act 1 ticket package holders in January 2021.
- What safety procedures do you have in place at your theatres?
Your safety is important to us. We have enhanced health and hygiene methods in place, based on NSW government guidelines and expert public health advice, to help keep our visitors and staff safe. For the latest information, check our Visitor Safety Information page.
- What’s happened to Season Tickets?
Due to the large-scale disruptions in 2020 from COVID-19, there was still a lot of uncertainty when we committed to our 2021 season a couple of months ago. We decided to do an initial launch of four plays and The Wharf Revue as a more approachable first step back for our Season Ticket Holders but also to contain the risk for ourselves. Now we are back performing on stage, with another two productions to come for 2020, we are confident we will launch ‘Act 2’ of our 2021 Season in March. We have developed ticket packages across ‘Act 1’ and ‘Act 2’ that, in combination, approximate a Season Ticket.
- Will I still be a ‘Star’ or ‘Legend’?
Once a Season Ticket Holder becomes a Star or Legend, they are gifted this status for life regardless of whether they miss a year or two.
To reach Star status, a Season Ticket Holder needs to subscribe for three consecutive years. A Star becomes a Legend after ten consecutive years of subscribing.
A Season Ticket Holder who does not book for either ‘Act 1’ or ‘Act 2’ in 2021 will retain their status but will not have access to the Priority Booking Period the following year that they return.
- When will you announce the plays for the rest of the year?
‘Act 2’ – the second release of our 2021 Season will be announced in March 2021. Sign up to STC emails to stay in the loop.
- I received a credit voucher for cancelled plays in 2020. Can I use my voucher to book a package?
Yes. Your credit voucher is valid for 3 years for any STC production. To redeem your voucher on our website, type in the voucher number on the REVIEW & PAY page when making your booking. You can use as many credit vouchers as you like in the same booking.
NB. You cannot use PayPal and a credit voucher in the same booking. Please pay by credit card if you'd like to redeem a credit voucher.
- When will The Wharf reopen?
We’re thrilled the newly renovated Wharf will open to the public in January 2021. The first production in The Wharf will be Playing Beatie Bow in February.
